1 Peter 3

Dominique Young

Living out the values of the Kingdom of God isn’t always easy—especially when we’re hurt, overlooked, or wronged. But in 1 Peter 3, we are reminded that our calling as believers is to live differently, even when it’s hard. We’re not just avoiding evil—we’re returning good for it. We bless when others curse. We stay gentle when others are harsh. Not because they deserve it, but because Jesus calls us to reflect Him in all things.

Peter isn’t asking us to pretend things don’t hurt or to become passive doormats. He’s calling us to live with such a deep trust in God’s justice and goodness that we no longer need to fight for our own. When we choose to live Kingdom—even when it's uncomfortable—we become lights in a dark world, showing that our hope, identity, and peace are rooted in something far greater than the momentary challenges around us.

Prayer:

Lord, help me live out Your Kingdom even when it costs me. Give me the strength to respond with grace when it's hard and to bless when I want to defend myself. May my life reflect Your love, peace, and righteousness no matter what I face. Teach me to trust You more deeply each day. Amen.

Reflection Questions:

1. Where in your life is it hard to live out the values of God’s Kingdom right now?

2. What would it look like to “repay evil with blessing” in your current situation?

3. How can you rely on God’s strength instead of your own when obedience feels difficult?
