1 Peter 1

Devotional Thought:

This world offers many promises—success, comfort, approval—but every one of them fades. Circumstances shift, people disappoint, and plans fall apart. But 1 Peter 1 reminds us that our hope as believers isn’t rooted in what we can see or control—it’s anchored in Jesus. Through His resurrection, we have been given a living hope, one that cannot be shaken by loss, trials, or time.

When we put our hope in Jesus, we’re trusting in something eternal, unchanging, and secure. Peter writes to believers facing persecution and pain, yet he calls them to rejoice—not because life is easy, but because their inheritance is safe in Christ. This living hope lifts our eyes from the temporary and helps us endure with purpose, knowing that what is coming is far greater than what we are walking through now. Let us not anchor our hearts to this world, but to the One who overcame it.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for being my living hope. Forgive me when I place my confidence in things that fade. Teach me to rest in the security of Your promises and keep my heart focused on eternity. Help me walk through today with joy, knowing that my future is held in You. Amen.

Reflection Questions:

1. In what areas of life have you been tempted to place your hope apart from Christ?

2. How does remembering your eternal inheritance help you face current challenges differently?

3. What’s one practical way you can re-anchor your heart to Jesus today?
