Romans 7

Dominique Young

đź“– Background

Romans Chapter 7 explores the believer’s relationship to the Law. Paul uses the analogy of marriage to illustrate that just as death releases a person from a marriage covenant, believers have "died" to the Law through Christ and now belong to Him. Paul defends the Law’s goodness but acknowledges its inability to produce righteousness. The Law reveals sin but does not empower us to overcome it. Paul describes the internal struggle between the desire to do good and the pull of sin—a conflict that resonates deeply with anyone pursuing holiness.
